Hidden Strength...
This route was cute ! And full of sweet sweet angst ! It's all about the push and pull between Van Helsing and Cardia. The fact that she cares so much for him and his need to protect himself by pushing her away. And be a dick to everyone, even the rest of the Gang. Sheesh, with how many times he told us to he could handle it alone when he was about to get his ass handed to him, he better be ultra nice to everyone for the rest of his life.
Well, anyway, I liked the theme of this route. Even if at times I really wanted to shake his dumbass hard. There's something about the idea of forgiveness, of being the puppet of another, something made to fit the idea of someone else... I don't think we get much about Cardia's view of herself on this one, but knowing the whole being a homunculus thing she has going on I can see how the two of them relate to each other.
I knew the man was self-destructive, but it is to another level here. Being so set on paying for his sins, on devoting his life to be miserable because even when you were responsible for such atrocities there is no way you could ever have the right to be happy. It's nice to see him grapple with that. With the fact that revenge will eat him whole, that you need to go past what you were someday, and knowing you have no way to make up for it... What to do then ? And if you start becoming happier, do you accept it ? Do you fight it ? What's the answer there ?
I joked at the beginning of this route about Aleister being a Azroth because his sprite was suspicious looking. I got my joke handed back to me with a slap... You know, now that we know that Finis didn't do the whole threatening Van Helsing I have to ask myself what was his whole involvement during the War. I kinda feel like, as much as he mocks Van Helsing for being a puppet, he too is... controlled in some way.
I love Delly. So much. That's my child for real. My baby. My son. ദ്ദി╥ ᴗ ╥) I hope he gets to find other vampires and go forward in his life.
Cardia got to have TWO mid-fight with the antagonist confessions. My girl was not about to let go of her man. Good on her, sturbborness suits her well.
MYSTERY CLUE :
Everything comes back to the vampiric war. I'm pretty sure Victor is the one that made the poisoned gas, helped by Isaac. Also our brother has an immortal body and we have an immortal heart. Is that the key to the philosopher's stone ? Put us back together ? Is that what our father wanted us to do ? Put both of ourselves behind and become some sort of miracle godly rock ? Maybe when we get to the end, everything will be explained and I'll feel like he did love both of his kids or something... But right now. Well, he's better off dead.
Um...
Who killed him by the way ? Where... is he ? I haven't gotten a single clue as to his whereabouts.
