Kidnapped and taken to an unfamiliar location, nine people find themselves forced to participate in a diabolical Nonary Game by an enigmatic mastermind called Zero. Why were they there? Why were they chosen to put their lives on the line? And more importantly, who can be trusted?
Yeah that game slaps. The escape elements are super cool and not too difficult so even a dumbass like me can play without a guide. The character art is beautiful !! Like they all were so hot and I like the mystery a lot. It’s equally what the hell is happening and that makes sense ! Yes it’s bonkers but also all the clues helped me get an idea as to what was happening at the end. It’s just a very well written piece of fiction and I loved it.
Okay now that I’ve played Virtue’s last Reward oh my god are those games so fucking good. Like Love the plot in both of them. I think I can understand why the second game didn’t get as much acclaim (Ending is vague but sets up the third entry real well, Sigma is a bit of a shit protag when you compare him to Junpei and some endings you need to unlock the story can feel a little forced) but oh my god was it bonkers and good.
I think it’s interesting to compare the two protag. Junpei is so intelligent and resourceful, he’s also very proactive and extremely emotionally intelligent I think. He’s the one leading the investigations forward and he’s the one that gets closer to the cast each time they are together in a room.
On the other hand, Sigma comes across as more bumbling ? A little less competent and definitely more perverted than Jumpei is though both of the games have a some dirty jokes but very few fan service moment. (It’s fun having played AI the somnium files because across both games you can see how the writing is shaping out to be more witty for their later games). Not that he isn’t intelligent ! But I think having Clover, Phi, Alice and Junpei who are so competent makes him feel a little less than Junpei who was mostly around competent people that have never been in a life or death game before.
They are both so good and I need fanfics ASAP.
